The area reaches from the edge of the capital area, Reykjavik, all the way to the east part of Iceland, Höfn. The area reaches up to the north to the most visited areas in Iceland Gullfoss and Geysir and east towards the largest glacier in Europe a.k.a. Vatnajökull. The area includes two national parks that are 13,200 square kilometers. Þingvellir, with the oldest parliament in the world and one of the most popular tourist places in Iceland, and Vatnajökull National Park that is centered around the glacier.
